Meet our Organizers

Board Of Trustees

The Board of Trustees are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.
Executive committee report directly to the Executive Director. Executive committee members have many oversight duties. They are responsible for overseeing the daily implementation of board policies and making sure that the policies are establishing and maintaining good governance practices. These activities include overseeing the company’s policies on ethics, security guidelines, quality management, human resources and regulations. Oversight duties also include overseeing ad hoc committees that work on policy development by making sure that they complete their objectives. Discussions of the executive committee should be encapsulated in their minutes, which they should present to the Executive Director in a timely manner.


Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan – Chairman

Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan was raised and educated in Bangladesh and United States Of America. He has extensive working experience in both business and non-profit social and religious organizations in the United States Of America. Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan is one of the founding members of Ideal Islamic School, Hillside Islamic Center and American Muslim Voice. He is the Chairman of Board of Trustees of Hillside Islamic Center, Darus Salam Masjid and American Muslim Voice. Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan served as the Chairman of Muslim Advisory Council of Nassau County under County Executive Edward Mangano. He is engaged in real estate development and management business.

Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan obtained his BS from Dhaka University, Bangladesh in 1981 and Business Management Certificate from NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies in 1987. He is married and blessed with two children.


Saleem Tatari – Treasurer
Saleem Tatari has lived in the USA since 1973. He has been living in New Hyde Park since 1988. Saleem Tatari obtained B.Sc degree in Pharmaceutical Science from Karachi University, Pakistan. Saleem Tatari is one of the founding members of Hillside Islamic Center. He is a professional Pharmacist and engaged in the business of pharmacy,

Abdul Basir Kaz- Member

Abdul Basir Kazi was born in Junagardh India, has been a resident of New Hyde Park for over 38 years since emigrating from Pakistan in 1974. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Kazi served as the Director of ProHEALTH Laboratories for over 19 years. In his role as Director, his key accomplishments included establishing brand new Clinical & Anatomical Pathology Laboratories as part of a new initiative for the healthcare company. Additionally, Mr. Kazi also worked at Winthrop University Hospital and North-well / LIJ Hospital for over 24 years in various research, technical & managerial roles.
Mr. Kazi earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biochemistry from the Karachi University and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. He has been a member of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry for over 30 years and during 2014 – 2015, he served as President of the New York Metro section.

Mr. Kazi also spends a considerable amount of time volunteering and was a core member of the team that established both the Islamic Center of Long Island, Westbury and the Hillside Islamic Center. Additionally in 1975, he helped build the Alflah Masjid in Corona Queens, has volunteered as School Administrator at the start of Crescent School. He continues to volunteer at palliative care groups and soup kitchens throughout Long Island.

In 2016 retired completely from ProHEALTH and enjoys traveling historical places, nature & wonders of the world, with his wife, Rehana Hasan Kazi, (a retired Supervisor of Cytogenetics at Northwell Health/ LIJ). He traveled 28 countries covering six continents & visited 30 states of USA . His another hobby is Nature Photography. Additionally, he enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren, studies Quran, offer salat and take them to sports & museums.


Mohammed Abu Koush – Member

He was born in Jordan. He received his degree in Business Administration at the University of Jordan. He made his transition from Jordan to New York in 1986. His occupation is in the supermarket business and real estate. He currently reside in New Hyde Park since 1995.


Mohammed Yasim Khan – Member

Mohamed yassim khan, born in Guyana. Worked for the govt. of Guyana as a customs officer. He has migrated to the USA in feb. 1978 and became naturalization citizen.Schooled in Guyana and learned computer programming in NY. Worked for major corporations as a data processing consultant and then as an employee for JPMorgan chase. Mohamed Y. Khan retired in 2008 as an AVP and have since dedicated my time and services to hillside Islamic center.my association with hic started in 2002.



Team Leaders

Shaykh Ibad Wali – Executive Director & Resident Scholar

He completed the rigorous seven year ‘Alimiyyah program in 2011 with numerous authentic certifications (ijazah) in various Islamic sciences, including Fiqh, Tafseer, Hadith, and their methodologies.

Raised in New York City, Shaykh Ibad received a full scholarship to college. While President of the MSA he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, as well as a Bachelor’s in Business and Liberal Arts with honors from Queens College. Later completing his Master’s Degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the Graduate Center in New York.

He is also an ‘Aalim Course Instructor at Darul Uloom New York, specializing in the Islamic Law of Inheritance, currently living in New York with his wife and family. He is the Founder of Sahaba Athletics League which is geared towards connecting youth to the masjid through sports. He is also engaged in various chaplaincy work and interfaith initiatives in Nassau County and NYC.


Shaykh Muhammad Waliullah – Imam/Instructor

He has been an Imam and khatib since 2008. He finished his hifz at an early age and then started his alim course in Bangladesh and graduated from Nadwatul Ulema in India. To further his studies he went to Egypt and finished his bachelors in Hadith from Alazhar University. He then completed his masters from Darul Ehsan University. Currently He is doing his PhD at Graduate Theological Foundation located in Indiana. He was a former teacher at Darul Uloom New York and currently a teacher at HIC after school Quran Academy program.

Brothers’ Volunteer Executive Board
Farrukh Ahmed

Farrukh Ahmed was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Farrukh Ahmed completed his master’s degree in Applied Physics from Karachi university in 1985. He also completed his post graduate training in computer from the university grants commission Islamabad in 1986. He achieved his Advanced computer training certificate from school of continuing education at NYU New York in 1991. Mr. Ahmed has been actively involved with Hillside Islamic center as volunteer since he moved to this community in 2002. He is currently working for a Japanese firm as computer system analyst . Farrukh Ahmed is married and blessed with two children.

Mohsina Bukhari

Political Science and Secondary Education History background from Fordham University and Hunter College: School of Education. Worked in various Islamic Schools teaching 5-8th Grade English and Social Studies. Currently Principal of HIC Sunday School and a Homeschooler.


Nadia Irshad

I was brought up in the Middle East . Completed higher education in Pakistan . We moved to new Hyde park in 2015 and felt that becoming a part of the EC would give me an opportunity to serve the community . May Allah guide us .


Nancy Hossain

I am Nancy and I serve as the General Secretary for the Executive Committee for Sisters at Hillside Islamic Center since 2017. I am a mother of 4 children, with eldest one attending JMC hifz school, middle 2 in Wellspring Elementary and youngest one is a toddler. Graduated in Doctor of Pharmacy from St John’s University and currently work as a per diem staff pharmacist at Brookdale University Hospital, Brooklyn. Also graduated from ICNA sister’s wing alima course in 2008. Currently pursuing an associate degree from FKAD in Masjid Esa ibn Maryam. Alhumdulillah was blessed to perform hajj in 2017 under leadership of Sheikh Shakiel Humayun. I have an eagerness to learn the deen of Islam and to help the community with all my potential InshaAllah!
